Con Edison faces potential fine over breaches of safety rules

(Reuters) – Power firm Consolidated Edison Inc might face a doable fine over accusations of lapses in safety rules associated to gasoline infrastructure work in New York Metropolis, a neighborhood regulator mentioned on Friday.

After receiving allegations in a 2016 nameless letter that utility contractors had cheated on operator qualification exams, the New York State Public Service Fee (PSC) mentioned it directed gasoline firms to look into it.

Con Edison discovered proof of dishonest at two contractors, the PSC mentioned, and violations of building necessities at work carried out by the contractors.
